DHT120/150: Introducing an innovative Dedicated Hybrid Transmission; creating a new market segment

Recognizing the growing market demand for Dedicated Hybrid Transmissions (DHTs) in A- and B-class vehicles, Punch Powertrain is strengthening its position as a leader in automotive propulsion innovation with the launch of a new entry-level hybrid transmission for global markets. The DHT120/150 stands out for its technological performance in the compact vehicle segment and is poised to establish a new market category—setting benchmarks in efficiency, advanced control systems, energy management, and affordability.

How the DHT120/150 stands out

The DHT120/150 is a dual-inverter, dual-motor hybrid transmission engineered to deliver high efficiency and seamless power transitions for sub-2L gasoline engines in both Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). Its compact design, featuring the shortest axial length in its class and 5-axis architecture, positions it to lead a new segment in automotive transmissions for compact A- and B-class vehicles. This class of vehicles is critical in terms of pricing and while they still need to help bringing fleet CO2 emissions down, selling them as costly EVs is still challenging. However, adopting Punch Powertrain’s entry-level DHT, greatly helps the balance between emission reduction and affordability.

With a dual electric motor in a P1/P3 configuration, the DHT120/150 is designed for an input torque range of 150 to 250 Nm. The DHT120/150’s high-efficiency architecture includes a fully actively controllable lubrication system that reduces oil filling by 1L.
