Punch Powertrain secures major new CVT project

Punch Powertrain is delighted to announce a major project win with a leading Chinese OEM for their VT3 – Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The start of production (SOP) is scheduled for 2025, with an annual demand forecast of
over 100,000 transmissions. This achievement is a direct result of the rigorous efforts and product updates by
Punch Powertrain’s China team over the past few years and strengthens their future business plans.

Punch Powertrain has a proud history of being the first company to introduce the metal belt CVT, boasting a strong track record of over five decades in its development and production. With over 3.5 million units of its CVT range in operation worldwide, its quality and reliability are confirmed day after day.

The VT3 transmission has proven to be a successful, robust, and cost-efficient CVT, which can be quickly deployed thanks to its design flexibility. The tried-and-tested VT3 transmission contributes to lower fuel consumption and scores very highly on driving comfort. The VT3 is available in various torque variants, ranging from 150 to 220 Nm. Specifically for demanding applications, a variant with a short final drive is developed, delivering high performance on slopes.
