DHT 48V

DHT 48V is a low-voltage, air-cooled 48V hybrid transmission designed for entry-level commercial and light utility vehicles. It delivers meaningful fuel savings and EV-style torque assist without the cost or complexity of a high-voltage system.

Over 50% fuel saving in city cycles versus conventional ICE, with EV-style instant torque delivery. Full hybrid capability at entry-level commercial vehicle cost.

The cost-effective design uses an air-cooled architecture with a high-efficiency gearset. Automatic gear shifting and regenerative braking are standard, recovering energy on every deceleration and reducing brake wear over the vehicle’s    lifetime.

The 48V low-voltage platform supports Series, Parallel, EV, and Standstill Charging operating modes, delivering full hybrid capability across all driving conditions. With 24 kW of electric boost power, DHT 48V improves performance and responsiveness without requiring a new vehicle platform, new engine, or high-voltage infrastructure.

The full software stack is ISO 26262 functional safety and ISO 21434 cybersecurity compliant, matured across hundreds of production applications. A single powertrain domain controller manages hybrid control, transmission control, and motor control functions, reducing ECU count and simplifying vehicle integration. In real-world conditions, DHT 48V delivers 33% fuel economy improvement over conventional ICE powertrains, a measurable and commercially relevant advantage for fleet operators managing total cost of ownership.

Target Applications

DHT 48V is purpose-built for light commercial vehicles (LCV), small commercial vehicles (SCV), and light utility vehicle applications. It supports FHEV, PHEV, and EREV configurations from the same base architecture, allowing OEMs to select the appropriate electrification level per programme without a full system redesign.

Meeting Emissions Targets Worldwide

Fleet operators and OEMs across global markets face tightening emissions targets. In Europe, Euro 7 standards are raising the bar for commercial vehicle emissions. In China, the NEV dual-credit policy is accelerating the shift away from conventional ICE powertrains. In Malaysia, the National Automotive Policy (NAP 2020) and Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint are driving the transition toward hybrid and energy-efficient vehicle solutions. In India, CAFE III norms tightening from April 2027 are pushing OEMs toward affordable hybridisation solutions. DHT 48V provides a practical, cost-effective path to compliance across all these markets without requiring a new vehicle platform or engine development programme.

Operating Modes

DHT 48V supports four hybrid operating modes for intelligent energy management across all driving conditions.

Series — engine generates power, e-motor drives the wheels

Parallel — engine and e-motor work together for maximum performance

EV — pure electric driving for zero-emission intervals

Standstill Charging — engine charges the battery while stationary

What makes our DHT 48V different

Low voltage

The 48V architecture removes high-voltage safety requirements entirely, reducing certification complexity and component cost for OEMs integrating hybrid capability into new or existing programmes.

Air cooled

No liquid cooling circuit means fewer components, simpler packaging, and easier maintenance over the vehicle's lifetime, a direct advantage for commercial vehicle operators.

Cost effective

Self-developed components and a high-efficiency gearset keep system cost at entry-level pricing, delivering a strong total cost of ownership case for fleet operators and OEMs alike.
