A cost effective full automatic for the compact segment. The DT1 delivers automatic driving comfort with the efficiency and compact packaging usually associated with a manual, making it a practical alternative to benchmark DCTs and ATs.
The DT1 was developed for compact vehicles that need full automatic comfort without full automatic cost and inefficiency. A patented design places an additional planetary gearset inside one of the two clutches, engaged between engine and compact 4 gear pair transmission cluster with single layshaft. The unit shifts seamlessly across 7 forward ratios using combinations of these 4 gear pairs and the geared clutch duo. That keeps the overall solution lighter more compact and lower cost than conventional architectures. A large first gear ratio of 1:18 gives smooth launches and strong capability with small engines on inclines, while the wide ratio spread of over 8 keeps fuel consumption favourable across the drive cycle.
