Two Punch Powertrain – Stellantis joint ventures appoint Michel Becker as their new CEO

Punch Powertrain PSA e-Transmissions nv and Punch Powertrain PSA e-transmissions Assembly SAS appoint Michel Becker as new Chief Executive Officer to both companies with immediate effect. Mr. Becker joins the executive teams of both entities

In his new role, Mr. Becker will lead both Joint Ventures towards a successful launch of Punch Powertrain’s breakthrough DT2 dual clutch transmission for the next generation of mild hybrid electric (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) vehicles, preparing its further expansion on global markets.

Specifically, Becker will lead the teams in Metz, Sint-Truiden and Eindhoven towards successful industrialization in production at the different locations, ensuring the companies deliver operational excellence to the launching customer. Furthermore, he will build a cross site organization aimed at attracting new customers globally, ensuring that they are consistently delivered through an agile, lean and fully integrated global supply chain.

About Michel Becker

Michel Becker holds an engineering degree and has built a strong track record within global automotive industry over the past 27 years, having led operational excellence and transformation. He joins from Toyota Boshoku Europe, where he most recently held the position of President for the French Operations, combined with a corporate operations and sustainability role. Previous to this, Michel acted as global Product Line Director with Valeo, heading 3 global transmission product lines (dry clutch, wet clutch, and torque converter), leading 3.500 people across plants and countries.

About the 2 Joint Ventures

In the past years Punch Powertrain and Stellantis have created 2 joint ventures, dedicated to delivering eDCT/DT2 dual clutch transmission for the next generation of mild hybrid electric (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) vehicles.

The first Joint 50/50 Venture, ‘Punch Powertrain PSA e-transmissions Assembly’, was launched in July 2020 and is dedicated to assembly of the DT2 electrified transmission, headquartered at Groupe PSA’s facility in Metz, France.
The second Joint 39/61 Venture, “Punch Powertrain PSA e-Transmissions”, with Punch Powertrain majority control, is dedicated to design, manufacture, and overall supply of DT2. This entity started operations in September 2020 and is headquartered at Punch Powertrain Sint-Truiden location and comprises a R&D center, as well as a manufacturing location for 600.000 key components for the transmission, that are further supplied to and assembled by the first JV.
